At one time or another, we’ve all felt the sting of the Kardashian-Jenner overkill. As much as we’re completely and utterly obsessed with them, at the same time we sometimes need a little bit of a timeout from their TV shows, photoshoots, social media posts, book releases, celebrity marriages… I could go on, but I won’t.It turns out we’re not the only people who feel this way about the most famous family in America. In fact, it has been brought to our attention that other inhabitants of Tinseltown share our feelings on the matter. Namely, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
Diddy was one of the celebrities to attend the Met Gala last week, often referred to as “fashion’s biggest night out”, along with his longtime love, singer Cassie. And while the moment he decided to have a lie down on the stairs while his girlfriend was posing for the cameras first appeared to be his most-outrageous moment, some sneaky detective work on Twitter has since exposed the shocking truth.
All 93 million followers of Kylie Jenner’s Instagram account will recall that she posted a star-studded photo from the glitzy night. Looking at it, you can recognise several famous faces including Diddy, Wiz Khalifa, Migos, Travis Scott, and Jaden Smith, as well as Kylie and her supermodel sister Kendall hamming it up for the camera with their middle fingers up.
Diddy liked the picture so much, he decided to repost it to his eight million followers. But it wasn’t quite the snap we’d come to know and love. Can you spot the difference?
That’s right, the second photo, posted by the I’ll Be Missing You singer, completely crops the Jenner sisters out in a move that anyone experiencing Kardashian family fatigue will relish in. He captioned his heavily cropped photo with the words, “#teamlove #blackexcellence”.Naturally the people of Twitter noticed the Jenner sister shun and immediately became obsessed with how slick Diddy had been about the whole thing, soon starting a #DiddyCrop meme.
Many people on social media found the cropping episode hilarious, with one writing “‘diddy crop’ gotta be the new ‘decolonise’” and another stating “sometimes you have to #DiddyCrop people out of your life.” Many Twitter users were in awe of the blatant diss with one in particular hailing his actions as “a philosophy, a solution, a revolution”, while another admitted he aspired to be Diddy when he grew up.
Of course, it wasn’t long at all before the memes began to roll in, with many people insisting we should all take a page out of the #DiddyCrop book.
The even more brutal thing about all of this? As Twitter user Art & SOul pointed out, in the original photo you can see the Last Night crooner angling his body inwards, away from the Keeping Up With The Kardashians stars. His positioning has gotten fans speculating whether the #DiddyCrop was his evil plan all along.
If they are right, it’s a brutal move on his part. Pretty cold, Diddy.
